House Bill 82 - Summary

• Amends the definition of "work experience student" in Idaho Code Section 72-102 to include students enrolled in public institutions of higher education, in addition to public school districts.

• A work experience student is defined as any person enrolled in school as part of instruction, enrolled in a class or program for academic credit, and employed by or working for a private or governmental entity, regardless of whether the student receives wages.

• Adds Section 72-205(9) to establish that work experience students who do not receive wages must be covered by either the school district's worker's compensation policy or the Idaho higher education policy.

• Clarifies that work experience students from higher education institutions have worker's compensation coverage through the Idaho higher education policy when they are unpaid.
