Senate Bill 1057 Summary

• Allows school districts to use a portion of instructional staff allowance funds for kindergarten teachers to conduct visits with parents or guardians during the first week of the kindergarten school year.

• Visits may take place at school, the student's home, or another mutually agreed location between the teacher and parents or guardians.

• Establishes that visits should strengthen the working relationship between teacher, parents/guardians, and student, and help establish the teacher's expectations and allow parents to explain their expectations.

• Limits expenditures for such visits to no more than one (1) week of instructional staff allowance computed for kindergarten instructors in the district.

• Makes codifier's corrections and technical corrections to Section 33-1004, Idaho Code regarding staff allowance calculations.
