Recognizes and commends the Boise School District for receiving the 2013 Read Right Award of Excellence, one of only seven recipients nationwide including just two school districts.

The Read Right program helps struggling readers from diverse backgrounds improve reading comprehension by integrating phonetic clues with subject knowledge and language understanding.

Boise School District has operated the Read Right program for nearly fifteen years across nine elementary schools and three junior high schools with thirty full and part-time staff members.

The program serves an estimated 375 Boise students daily and has helped approximately 2,000 children and teens with significant reading challenges achieve reading success.

Boise School District's kindergarten through third grade students read at grade level nine percentage points higher than the state average, representing an eleven percent improvement over the last decade according to the Idaho Reading Indicator.
