Employees hired by a school district who were previously employed by a state educational agency shall be credited unused sick leave accumulated during state employment up to a maximum of 90 days.

Unused sick leave for school district employees accumulates up to a maximum of 90 days and is transferable when employees move between districts or to state educational agencies within one school year of termination, or within three school years if termination was due to reduction in force.

State employees of educational agencies with unused sick leave credited under section 33-1217 are exempt from the tiered credited service hour requirements and have a maximum unused sick leave limit of 600 hours for retirement benefit purposes.

Sick leave accrues to state classified officers and employees at a rate of 96/2080 per hour without limit and is transferable between departments, but is forfeited upon separation from state service except when returning within three years.

Upon retirement, employees may transfer up to one-half of their unused sick leave value (or the applicable maximum) to their retirement account for payment of health, dental, vision, long-term care, prescription drug, and life insurance premiums.
