House Bill 556 Summary

• Establishes three-tiered evaluation criteria for superintendents, principals, and certified teachers based on implementation dates: June 30, 2015; June 30, 2017; and June 30, 2019.

• For evaluations after June 30, 2015: at least 35% based on objective measures of student achievement growth, at least 5% on parent and student input, and at least 25% on professional practice.

• For evaluations after June 30, 2017: increases to at least 40% on student achievement growth, at least 10% on parent and student input, and at least 25% on professional practice.

• For evaluations after June 30, 2019: increases to at least 50% on student achievement growth, at least 15% on parent and student input, and at least 25% on professional practice.

• Local boards of trustees determine the specific objective measures of student achievement growth used in evaluations.
