• Saeed Abedini, an Idaho resident with dual Iranian-U.S. citizenship and Christian faith, was arbitrarily detained in Iran in September 2012 and held in solitary confinement with physical abuse and denial of medical treatment.

• An Iranian court accused Abedini in January 2013 of attempting to undermine national security by gathering with fellow Christians in private homes and sentenced him to eight years in prison, a sentence upheld on appeal.
