Front steer axle load limits may not exceed the manufacturer's load rating per tire, the axle load rating, or 20,000 pounds per axle, whichever is less.

All other vehicle tires operated on public highways are limited to 600 pounds per inch width of tire and must not exceed the manufacturer's load rating.

Tires on vehicles manufactured before July 1, 1987 may exceed the 600-pound limit up to a maximum of 800 pounds per inch width of tire.

Vehicles exceeding weight limits by 2,000 pounds or more on a single tire or 7 percent or more on combined axles must obtain travel authorization to the nearest place of safe unloading or load adjustment.

Travel authorization fee is set at $50.00 and must be on a form prescribed by the board or proper authorities.

Act takes effect immediately upon passage and approval as an emergency measure.
