House Bill 100 Summary

• Amends Idaho Code Section 59-1342 to revise how service retirement allowances are computed for Idaho legislators, distinguishing between those who left the legislature before July 1, 2015, and those who remained on or after that date.

• Idaho legislators who left the legislature before July 1, 2015, and subsequently became employees outside the legislature will have their initial service retirement allowance computed on the basis of their total months of credited service.

• Idaho legislators serving on or after July 1, 2015, will have their initial service retirement allowance computed in the same manner as nonlegislative elected or appointed officials, including provisions that may separate compensation for excess months of service as an official from other credited service.

• Amends Idaho Code Section 59-1346 to apply the same distinction regarding early retirement allowance computations for Idaho legislators based on their service dates relative to July 1, 2015.

• Makes technical corrections and clarifications to retirement benefit calculation provisions for members of the Public Employee Retirement System.
