Senate Bill 1083 Summary

• Amends Section 49-402, Idaho Code to add a reference to a new special license plate program and make technical corrections to vehicle registration provisions.

• Creates new Section 49-420N to establish the "America The Beautiful®" license plate program available starting July 2015 for vehicle owners whose vehicles do not exceed 26,000 pounds gross weight.

• Sets fees at $35.00 for initial issuance and $25.00 for annual renewal, with $13.00 of each fee deposited to the state highway account and $22.00 (initial) or $12.00 (renewal) transferred to Live Laugh Love Give Inc., a nonprofit corporation, for children's and families' benefits, education, and military service support.

• Allows plate transfers to other vehicles upon payment of required transfer fees and permits sample plate purchases for $30.00 ($13.00 to highway account and $17.00 to the nonprofit).

• Requires the license plate design and slogan be approved by Idaho Transportation Department and acceptable to Live Laugh Love Give Inc., with initial design costs paid by the nonprofit organization.
