Barber colleges must require entrance standards equal to those for barber licensure and provide 1,800 hours of instruction for barber-stylists and 900 hours for barbers, including Idaho barber law, board rules, and scientific fundamentals.

All college instructors must be licensed in Idaho as either a barber instructor or cosmetology instructor and must devote their entire time during class hours to instruction without engaging in private or public practice.

Colleges must deliver a $20,000 bond to the state of Idaho executed by a corporate surety company, with students having legal recourse against the bond if colleges fail to comply with their promises or representations.

Colleges must be licensed by the state board of barber examiners and renew licenses annually; failure to renew results in cessation of operations and removal from the approved colleges list.

Colleges must employ one instructor for every 20 students or fractional part thereof, with one barber instructor employed full-time, and may only admit regular students who have completed two years of high school or equivalent education and are at least 16½ years old.
