HB 559 Summary

• Changes Class A, B, C skills test fee language from "not more than $710.00" to allowing contractors to "determine and charge a skills test fee" with a maximum of $60.00 per test, plus an optional additional fee for vehicle use.

• Allows contractors administering Class A, B, or C skills tests to collect fees directly rather than having fees go solely through the state, enabling contractors to charge variable amounts up to the $60.00 limit.

• Adds provisions allowing driver's license applicants to make voluntary $2.00 contributions to an organ donation contribution fund, with the contribution treated separately from license fees.

• Makes the organ donation fund provisions effective only after the Idaho Transportation Department notifies the Secretary of State that its information technology system has been updated to support the fund.

• Applies to both current law and law as amended by Section 6 of Chapter 54, Laws of 2015.
