Senate Bill 1250 Summary

• Enacts the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Compact in Idaho Code Section 54-1419 to facilitate interstate licensure and practice of advanced practice registered nurses.

• Establishes a multistate licensure system allowing APRNs to obtain a single license in their home state that is recognized across all party states without requiring separate licenses in each state.

• Creates the Interstate Commission of APRN Compact Administrators to adopt uniform licensure requirements, oversee compact implementation, and coordinate information sharing among party states through a centralized coordinated licensure information system.

• Grants APRNs with multistate licenses the authority to practice independently without supervisory or collaborative relationships with physicians, and permits prescriptive authority for noncontrolled prescription drugs in all party states.

• Requires all party states to participate in information sharing regarding APRN licensure, adverse actions, and investigations; allows states to take enforcement action against APRNs and establishes dispute resolution procedures among party states.
