Senate Bill No. 1334 Summary

• Repeals sections 67-5745D and 67-5745E of Idaho Code relating to the Idaho Education Network and the Idaho Education Network Program and Resource Advisory Council (IPRAC).

• Establishes the Education Opportunity Resource Act as a new chapter 56 in Title 33, Idaho Code to provide broadband and related services to Idaho public schools (K-12), libraries, and other E-rate eligible entities.

• Creates an 8-member Education Opportunity Resource Committee within the state department of education to make budget and policy recommendations, establish reimbursement methodology for internet services, and compile broadband utilization statistics.

• Requires the state department of education to distribute appropriated funds to E-rate eligible entities for internet service costs and provide technical, E-rate, security, contracting and procurement guidance upon request.

• Removes references to the Idaho Education Network from sections 33-125 and 33-125A of Idaho Code and eliminates duties related to IPRAC representation.
