Senate Bill 1385 Summary

• Amends Section 49-117, Idaho Code, to revise the definition of "Proof of financial responsibility" for motor vehicle liability insurance.

• Increases minimum bodily injury liability coverage from $25,000 to $50,000 per person and from $50,000 to $100,000 per accident for two or more persons.

• Increases minimum property damage liability coverage from $15,000 to $50,000 per accident.

• Makes technical corrections to code language, including fixing grammar and updating references to other Idaho Code sections.

• Effective date: January 1, 2017, and applies to all policies, coverages, and contracts written or renewed on and after that date.
