House Bill 129 - Dietitian Licensing Revision

• Establishes a separate dietetic licensure board consisting of three dietitians and one public member appointed by the Idaho state board of medicine, removing dietitian licensing from direct state board of medicine oversight.

• Requires licensed dietitians to have a baccalaureate degree, complete ACEND-accredited didactic and supervised practice programs, and pass the Commission on Dietetic Registration examination.

• Authorizes licensed dietitians to order patient diets including therapeutic diets, implement medical nutrition therapy, order medical laboratory tests, adjust pharmacotherapy plans, and perform nutrition-focused physical assessments.

• Creates new disciplinary sanctions allowing the board to revoke or suspend licenses, impose probation, assess administrative fines up to $1,000 per offense, and recover investigation costs and attorney's fees.

• Permits licensure by endorsement for dietitians registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration or licensed in other states with equivalent standards, if they have no disciplinary history.
