Establishes definition of "underinsured motor vehicle" as a self-insured vehicle or one covered by liability insurance with bodily injury/death limits at least equal to those in Idaho Code Section 49-117

Designates underinsured motorist coverage as excess coverage that cannot be reduced by amounts paid by the tortfeasor's coverage or other coverage

Limits recovery under underinsured motorist policies to the lesser of the tortfeasor's total legal liability or the applicable underinsured coverage limits

Preserves all other terms and conditions of existing motor vehicle liability insurance policies providing uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage

Takes effect January 1, 2018
