Department of Administration must provide either a health transparency tool or medical diversion program to state officers and employees by July 1, 2018.

Health transparency tool would be available through the state insurance carrier's website and provide access to timely and accurate information about price, quality, and availability of health care services in Idaho.

Medical diversion program alternative would allow a third-party vendor to contact state officers and employees when they need medical imaging or surgery and provide lower cost options at different medical facilities.

Legislature finds that improving health care access and reducing costs for state officers and employees will improve the state employee health insurance program.

Resolution requires employees to have price transparency to make informed medical purchases.
