HB 429 - Crime Victims Compensation

• Amends Section 72-1016 to revise limitations on awards, including technical corrections to language regarding persons in public institutions and victim contribution to injury.

• Compensation is reduced by 50% if the claimant was engaged in a felony or violation of specified Idaho Code sections at the time of injury, with possible further reduction if claimant's actions contributed to the injury.

• Amends Section 72-1019 to establish separate payment rules for forensic and medical examinations of alleged sexual assault victims: commission pays after federal/federally-financed third party collections, but must pay after any third party collections for victims under 18 years of age.

• Requires the commission to establish a procedure for summary processing of sexual assault examination cost claims.

• Makes technical corrections throughout both sections, including updating "subsection" references to "paragraph" where appropriate.
