School districts and public charter schools must demonstrate wireless infrastructure meets or exceeds standards recommended by the education opportunity resource committee and approved by the state department of education to receive state funding for wireless technology serving grades 9-12.

The education opportunity resource committee shall annually review and recommend wireless technology standards to the state department of education.

Wireless systems must provide coverage and capacity to connect all mobile computing devices to the wireless local area network in instructional and administrative areas including classrooms, study areas, media centers, libraries, and administrative offices.

School districts must conduct system validation testing in conjunction with the state department of education to confirm wireless installations meet functionality, performance, and reliability requirements, including testing for connectivity, usability, and reliability during the first year.

Internet content filtering must be included with any wireless internet access to children and must be configurable by each school to manage filtering policies, provide utilization reports, audit filtering changes, and protect against eavesdropping through encryption or other techniques.
