HB 18 Summary

• Clarifies definitions including "Emergency" (exigent circumstance with imminent danger of death or severe bodily injury), "Exploitation" (unjust use of vulnerable adult's financial power of attorney or resources), and "Vulnerable adult" (person 18+ unable to protect themselves due to physical or mental impairment).

• Revises provisions allowing area agencies on aging to serve as providers of adult protective services under contract with the Idaho Commission on Aging.

• Makes technical corrections to align statutory language regarding investigations, reporting requirements, entry rights, and interagency cooperation with revised terminology.

• Amends Section 67-5011 to clarify that adult protective services for vulnerable adults shall be administered through the Commission on Aging with authority to contract with area agencies on aging.
