Establishes a Maternal Mortality Review Committee within the Department of Health and Welfare to conduct comprehensive reviews of maternal deaths in Idaho and develop prevention strategies.

Committee shall consist of 12-15 members including five physicians from specified specialties, nurses, midwives, a coroner, social worker, emergency medical services provider, and public health representative with geographic diversity representation.

Committee proceedings, records, and information are confidential and privileged under peer review protections; committee members conduct thorough analyses to determine preventability of deaths and make recommendations.

Department shall obtain medical records and relevant data from health care providers, facilities, coroners, law enforcement, and other agencies; committee must convene at least annually and deliver annual reports to legislature and public.

Provisions expire July 1, 2023, unless renewed by the legislature.
