School district boards of trustees must conduct annual written formal evaluations of superintendents by June 1, including assessment of job performance strengths, weaknesses, and improvement areas, plus progress toward goals set under section 33-320.

Superintendent evaluations shall be based on either the state board of education's approved framework or an alternative framework that includes statewide achievement and growth targets for K-3 literacy and mathematics, grade 8 English language arts and mathematics, college entrance exams, and two or more locally-established targets.

Boards of trustees must provide the achievement and growth targets as part of the annual evaluation and report the summative performance rating annually to the state department of education.

Public charter school boards of directors must conduct annual evaluations of the chief administrator using the same evaluation frameworks required for superintendents, including statewide and local achievement and growth targets.

Charter school boards must report the summative performance rating for their chief administrator annually to the state department of education.
