Idaho Legislature expresses support for the Itafos Conda phosphate mining project located north of Soda Springs, noting southeastern Idaho's position as one of the world's largest phosphate reserves.

The Husky 1/North Dry Ridge project is projected to create 500 jobs, generate $180 million in local economic impact and $335 million statewide, produce $3.5 to $5.5 million in federal royalty payments, and deliver $27 million in state and local taxes for a total annual economic impact of $367 million.

The Legislature requests that the Bureau of Land Management and other federal agencies work with Idaho and Caribou County to approve the project in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Federal government agencies are urged to commit adequate, experienced personnel and sufficient financial resources to complete the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) analysis and issue the Notice to Proceed.

The House Chief Clerk is directed to send copies of this memorial to the President of the United States, the Secretaries of Agriculture and Interior, the EPA Administrator, and Idaho's congressional delegation.
