All bills and joint resolutions are referred directly to the Judiciary and Rules Committee for printing upon introduction and first reading.

After printing, the Judiciary and Rules Committee reports to the Senate and bills are referred by the President to an appropriate standing committee as determined by the President Pro Tempore of the Senate.

Any Senator may object to a committee referral and request it be referred to a different standing committee, with the right to move for such referral if the President denies the request.

Conference committees for House amendments are appointed by the President Pro Tempore, with the chairman of the appropriate standing committee serving as one member of the Senate conference committee.

After the forty-fifth day of a regular session or fifteenth day of a special session, bills may be called from committee without prior notice, and committees may only be called once per day with restrictions on repeated calls.
