Senate Bill 1037 Summary

• Amends Idaho Code Section 66-329 regarding involuntary hospitalization procedures for mentally ill persons

• Modifies the maximum period a court may continue a commitment hearing from five (5) days to seven (7) days when good cause is shown

• Allows the court to authorize treatment during the continuation period for good cause shown

• Applies to proceedings where courts determine whether a person meets criteria for involuntary commitment based on mental illness and likelihood of injury to self or others or grave disability
