Ada County voters created the Ada County Highway District (ACHD) on May 25, 1971, as the only single countywide highway district established under Idaho law.

ACHD commenced operations in 1972 and maintains almost all roads in Ada County except those under private ownership or Idaho Transportation Department jurisdiction.

ACHD maintains a 24-hour pothole repair policy and adopted a Complete Streets Policy to provide safe travel for vehicles, bicycles, pedestrians, people with disabilities, and mass transit users.

ACHD serves as an Idaho leader in technology, design, and innovation while sharing expertise with other highway authorities in the state.

The Senate congratulates ACHD for successfully addressing Ada County's unique transportation needs for 50 years despite significant county growth.
