Public schools must obtain approval from the school district board of trustees and a student's parent or guardian before conducting evaluations, questionnaires, or surveys concerning student behavior, psychological status, trauma, attitude, or social and emotional status.

Public schools are prohibited from collecting data on student behavior, psychological status, trauma, attitude, or social and emotional status without approval from the school district board of trustees and the student's parent or guardian.

School district boards of trustees must display all learning and curricular materials or activities related to social and emotional learning and mental and behavioral well-being on the school website in an easily accessible location.

Website displays must identify the title, author, organization, website associated with each material, a link to the material or brief description, and the identity of the creator if the material was created for nonpublic use.

Identical requirements apply to public charter schools through amendments to state law, with approval authority granted to the charter school board of directors instead of the district board of trustees.

The act becomes effective July 1, 2022, and was declared to have an emergency clause.
