Only the governor, state board of education, school district boards of trustees, or public charter school boards of directors may close schools or limit school programs to prevent the spread of infectious disease.

Only these entities listed above may require measures in schools or during school programs intended to prevent contagious or infectious disease.

Decisions by authorized entities to keep schools open or reopen, or to require or not require disease prevention measures, do not violate orders from the department of health and welfare, district boards of health, or city governments.

Students 18 years or older, and parents or guardians of minor students, may exempt themselves from mask-wearing requirements by submitting a signed statement citing medical, religious, or personal belief reasons.

Schools may not limit participation or impose additional requirements on students who have been exempted from mask-wearing requirements.
