SB 1246 Summary

• Adds numerous synthetic fentanyl analogs and fentanyl-related substances to Schedule I, including brorphine, isotonitazene, and various fluorinated and methyl-substituted fentanyl compounds.

• Expands Schedule I hallucinogenic substances by adding synthetic cannabinoids and designer drugs with broad structural definitions to capture evolving chemical modifications.

• Adds new substances to Schedule II opiates including oliceridine and norfentanyl.

• Adds lemborexant, remimazolam, and serdexmethylpheniate to Schedule IV depressants; adds brexanolone and eluxadoline to Schedule IV other substances.

• Adds brivaracetam, cenobamate, and lasmiditan to Schedule V other substances; effective July 1, 2022, with emergency declaration.
