Cities cannot acquire or use real property through lease or lease-purchase agreements exceeding 5 years without approval by majority vote of electors at an authorized election, effective July 1, 2023

Voter-approved leases cannot exceed 30 years in total duration

Exemptions apply to property leased for $1,000 or less annually, leases of city-owned property to others, and leases related to municipal electric power plants, utility distribution and transmission systems, or railroads

Elections for lease approval must be held on dates authorized pursuant to Idaho Code section 34-106
