Requires certified medication assistants (MA-C) to receive training preparing for medication administration roles and work under the supervision of a licensed nurse in a skilled nursing facility.

Removes the requirement for persons registered as nursing assistants on July 1, 2020 to pass the medication aide certification exam.

Authorizes the state board of nursing to collect initial application fees, two-year renewal fees, reinstatement fees, and verification fees not to exceed $100 total, with funds deposited in the state board of nursing account.

Establishes disciplinary authority for the board to deny certification, suspend, revoke, place on probation, or reprimand certified medication assistants for violations including substance abuse, client neglect or abuse, fraud, boundary violations, unsafe care, and criminal convictions.

Becomes effective July 1, 2023 as an emergency measure.
