Sellers of automatic subscription renewals must clearly disclose the renewal terms and cancellation methods before charging Idaho consumers.

Cancellation methods must include free online cancellation and cancellation in the same manner as subscription, using a cost-effective and easy-to-use mechanism such as a termination email, with no additional cancellation fees permitted.

Extended automatic subscription renewals (12+ months) require sellers to notify consumers 30-60 days in advance and provide at least one free cancellation method plus at least one additional cancellation option.

Violations constitute violations of the Idaho Consumer Protection Act but do not create private rights of action, and no civil penalties apply to sellers making good faith compliance efforts.

The law applies to agreements entered into or renewed on or after January 1, 2023, and becomes effective July 1, 2023, with exemptions for franchised businesses, utilities-regulated services, and insurance services.
