• Requires weekly cross-checking of unemployment insurance rolls against the most recent state death records list available to the department.

• Mandates the department verify claimant identity through methods including identity verification prior to awarding benefits, multifactor authentication for online applications, or in-person identification at a state office.

• Requires full eligibility review of suspicious claims including multiple or duplicative claims from suspicious or foreign internet protocol addresses, and claims associated with the same mailing address or bank account; bill becomes effective July 1, 2023.
