Senate Bill 1319 Summary

• Removes the 60,000-pound maximum gross weight restriction for noncommercial vehicles registered under section 49-434(1), Idaho Code, allowing them to obtain special license plates previously limited to vehicles under 26,000 pounds

• Applies the weight restriction removal uniformly across all special license plate programs, including plates for veterans, national guard members, wildlife conservation, college/university, youth programs, and various other designated causes

• Modifies section 49-402C to establish consistent eligibility standards for special plate issuance while maintaining existing fee structures and revenue distribution to designated organizations and state accounts

• Makes technical corrections to sections 49-407 and 49-417 related to special plate program language

• Declares an emergency and makes the law effective July 1, 2024
