School employees and governing board members with enhanced concealed weapons licenses may carry firearms on school property with governing board authorization, subject to training requirements and policy compliance.

Local education agencies must adopt policies by January 1, 2026 and implement by July 1, 2026 establishing personal qualifications, firearms standards, training requirements, and confidential identification methods for authorized carriers.

Authorized school employees and board members cannot be compelled to disclose weapon possession to the public and are protected from disciplinary action or retaliation unless they violate firearms laws or school policies.

School governing boards must maintain confidential lists of authorized carriers exempt from public disclosure and notify local law enforcement within 48 hours of any changes in authorization status.

Records relating to school employees or board members authorized to carry concealed weapons are exempt from public disclosure under Idaho's public records law.
