Advisory county fair boards may petition to become separate, independent boards operating under Chapter 2, Title 22 of Idaho Code rather than remaining advisory to county commissioners

Petition requires signatures from a majority of advisory fair board members and must be submitted in writing to the clerk of the board of county commissioners

County commissioners must publish notice in a local newspaper for at least 2 weeks and hold a hearing between 3 and 6 weeks after first publication

Conversion from advisory to independent status requires both a majority vote of county commissioners and a three-quarters (3/4) majority vote of fair board members

Declared an emergency measure with an effective date of July 1, 2025
