Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) are authorized to provide the full spectrum of anesthesia care and related services to patients of all ages and health conditions, from healthy individuals to those with life-threatening conditions.

CRNAs must be licensed registered nurses who graduated from a nationally accredited graduate or post-graduate nurse anesthesia program and hold current national certification.

Physicians are granted immunity from civil liability for anesthesia services provided solely and independently by a CRNA, as long as the physician did not supervise, direct, or expressly assume responsibility for the CRNA's care.

Physicians remain liable for their own negligence, gross negligence, willful misconduct, and any separate professional services they personally render to patients.

Effective date is July 1, 2025, with an emergency declaration; the law does not create new physician supervision requirements or affect federal Medicare/Medicaid participation conditions.
