State officials must report to the Secretary of State all out-of-state travel paid for by others that relates to governmental purposes or public policy issues

"State official" includes statewide elected officials, candidates appearing on general election ballots, and officers-elect who have won but not yet taken the oath of office

Reports must be filed within 30 days of return and include destination, dates, purpose, and the name/address of the person or entity who paid for the travel

Travel paid through reported campaign funds or personal funds is exempt from reporting requirements

Late filing penalty is $25 per day until the report is filed, with fees deposited into the public school income fund; effective date is July 1, 2025
