Deed restrictions, covenants, and similar land agreements cannot prohibit ownership of up to 4 chickens per 0.2 acres on single-family residential properties

Homeowner's associations may adopt reasonable rules for chicken housing and pasturing, including prohibiting or restricting roosters

Provisions apply only to single-family dwellings, not to multifamily units such as duplexes or apartments

Agricultural zones, rural properties, farms, and hobby farms where existing zoning already permits poultry are exempt from these new provisions

Effective date: July 1, 2025, declared as emergency legislation
