Local governments and the Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses must complete initial building plan reviews for public works projects within 30 calendar days of submission.

School districts may choose to have public school building plans reviewed by either the local government or the state division, with projects over $100,000 requiring review by an eligible jurisdiction meeting certification requirements.

Plans examiners for public schools must hold specific certifications: ICC commercial building certification, IAPMO plumbing inspector certification with Idaho journeyman plumber license, electrical inspector certification with Idaho journeyman electrician license, or ICC commercial mechanical inspector certification.

Public school plans must be approved before the district can advertise for bids, and the reviewing jurisdiction must complete initial review within 30 calendar days.
