Physician assistants may independently own medical practices in Idaho after being licensed for at least 2 years in any U.S. state or territory, removing the previous requirement for a collaborative practice agreement with a physician for practice ownership

Removes the mandatory requirement that physician assistants collaborate with at least one licensed physician, instead allowing collaboration to be determined by the facility or practice based on patient condition, PA education/experience, and community standard of care

Eliminates the provision requiring facilities and collaborating physicians to ensure PA services are within the PA's scope and to match collaborating physician expertise with supervised services

Updates medical discipline grounds to replace specific references to "interns, residents, nurse practitioners, certified nurse-midwives, clinical nurse specialists, or physician assistants" with the broader term "health professionals who require supervision"

Effective July 1, 2026, with an emergency clause declaring immediate necessity
