No in-person student instruction allowed on dates when elections may be conducted under Idaho Code section 34-106, effective January 1, 2028

School boards may still hold professional development, personnel training, teacher in-service, extracurricular activities, and athletic activities on election days, provided students are not required or encouraged to be present inside buildings used as polling places

Exception allows in-person instruction if the county clerk and school district jointly agree that student-occupied buildings will not be designated as polling places

Students may be encouraged to vote or serve as poll workers on election days

State Board of Education may grant waivers of minimum instructional hours for districtwide school closures due to elections when a county or state disaster declaration has been issued
