Counties, cities, and school district boards may publish abbreviated public notices in newspapers instead of full notices, provided they include the entity name, title/description, meeting details, and a link or QR code to the full notice online.

Abbreviated notices meeting these requirements carry the same legal force and effect as full public notices published under existing law (Section 60-106, Idaho Code).

Governmental entities must send the full, unabbreviated notice to the newspaper for electronic publication on the Newspaper Association of Idaho's public notices website, regardless of whether they choose abbreviated or full print publication.

Entities retain the option to publish full public notices in newspapers of general circulation.

Declared an emergency measure with an effective date of September 1, 2026.
