IL HB0020

Amends the Illinois Police Training Act to require sensitivity training regarding the African American male population of Illinois for probationary police officers in all certified schools.

Requires the same sensitivity training regarding the African American male population of Illinois as part of refresher and in-service training for permanent police officers.

Home rule local governmental units that do not voluntarily participate in the state training program must independently provide their probationary and permanent police officers with sensitivity training regarding the African American male population of Illinois that is at least as extensive as the state-mandated training.

Applies to all local law enforcement officers, including those from home rule units, ensuring statewide consistency in police training standards.

Effective immediately upon passage.
