School boards must provide at least 20 days of paid leave per year to teachers who are elected trustees of the Teachers' Retirement System of the State of Illinois to attend Board meetings, committee meetings, and seminars.

The Teachers' Retirement System shall reimburse school districts for the actual cost of substitute teacher hiring during these leaves of absence.

School boards must provide at least 20 days of paid leave per year to employees who are elected trustees of the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund for the same meeting and seminar purposes.

The Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund may reimburse affected school districts for the actual cost of hiring substitute employees during these leaves of absence.

The State is not required to reimburse school districts for implementing this mandate under the State Mandates Act.
