Amends Illinois School Code Section 24-6 to expand sick leave provisions for school district teachers and eligible employees to include paid leave for birth, adoption, and placement for adoption.

Establishes a 30-day paid leave limit for adoption or placement for adoption unless a longer leave period has been negotiated with the exclusive bargaining representative.

Allows school boards to require evidence that the formal adoption process is underway before granting adoption-related paid leave.

Specifies that school boards may require medical certificates from physicians, advanced practice nurses, or physician assistants to verify illness-related absences, or from spiritual advisers for religiously-based treatment, with the board paying certification costs for absences under 3 days.

Takes effect upon becoming law, with any rulemaking authority conditioned on compliance with the Illinois Administrative Procedure Act and Joint Committee on Administrative Rules procedures.
