IL HB0621

Expands township board authority to include trimming trees or bushes, removing nuisance bushes or trees, and maintaining retention or detention ponds in residential areas, in addition to existing weed cutting powers.

Requires township boards to notify property owners or property owners associations by mail at least 7 days before performing these services when owners refuse or neglect to maintain the property.

Makes the cost of these services a lien on the affected real estate, superior to all liens except tax liens, if notice is filed with the county recorder within 60 days of incurring the expense.

Exempts nature preserves and areas designated as conservation areas from these provisions.

Grants townships the authority to pursue civil action or foreclosure proceedings to recover unpaid costs for services performed under this section.
