IL HB1349

Creates the Revised Uniform Anatomical Gift Act to govern donation of human body parts for transplantation, therapy, research, or education, replacing the previous Illinois Anatomical Gift Act.

Establishes procedures for making, amending, and revoking anatomical gifts during life or after death, including options via driver's license, will, donor registry, or documented communication.

Allows individuals to refuse anatomical gifts and authorizes family members in priority order to make gifts on behalf of deceased persons unless the individual previously refused.

Prohibits purchase or sale of body parts for transplantation (Class 4 felony for first offense, Class 2 felony for subsequent offenses) but permits reasonable charges for removal, processing, preservation, storage, and transportation.

Requires hospitals to coordinate with organ procurement organizations, grants immunity to good-faith participants, and establishes procedures for coroners and medical examiners to cooperate with procurement organizations while maintaining investigative authority.
