IL HB2260

Amends the Public Employee Disability Act to allow eligible employees medically released as capable of performing light duties to be reassigned to light duties and return to work.

Requires restoration of an employee's pre-injury duties when medically cleared to perform those duties or when the Act no longer applies, whichever occurs first.

Applies to state correctional officers, law enforcement officers, firefighters, and employees of the Department of Corrections, Prisoner Review Board, and Department of Human Services working in penal institutions or mental health/developmental disabilities facilities.

Preserves existing provisions requiring employers to continue paying injured employees their regular salary without deduction from sick leave, compensatory time, or vacation credits for up to one year following work-related injury.

Excludes home rule units with a population over 1,000,000 from the Act's application.
