Effective July 1, 2009, all employees providing medical services at Illinois Department of Corrections and Department of Juvenile Justice facilities, plus support staff for those employees, become State employees.

Existing collective bargaining units and representation of these employees are preserved, with no disruption to current collective bargaining agreements.

Collective bargaining representatives may petition the Illinois Labor Relations Board for unit clarification to incorporate medical vendor employees into existing State employee bargaining units represented by the same bargaining agent.

Professional employees from medical vendors may be included in existing professional employee units, and other employee categories may be similarly consolidated into comparable existing units represented by the same bargaining representative.
